What is the best way to apply a poultry vaccine for Newcastle Disease (ND)?
We see significant differences in the field. The recent outbreaks of Newcastle Disease on poultry farms in Poland, Germany, and Spain have made farmers and veterinarians in other countries more alert.Where should the vaccine be applied?
On the skin, eyes, or nose?
Or should the vaccine reach the throat or lungs? The type of vaccine is important when making this decision. The skin, eyes, or nose can be targeted using a coarse droplet spray. But is the level of protection high enough? How strong is the poultry’s immune response? If the vaccine needs to reach the throat or lungs, a fine fog is required. The immune response may be stronger, but this can also cause a temporary drop in production.
For ND treatments, we see increased demand for both spray equipment, such as our battery backpack sprayer, and handheld foggers like our Turbofog.
Veterinarians are therefore choosing different strategies.
